Privacy Policy for the Processing of Personal Data Related to the Use of "Barzahlen"


Data protection signifies protection of your privacy sphere. We, the Cash Payment Solutions GmbH, Wallstr. 14a, 10179 Berlin (hereinafter „CPS“) respect your privacy sphere, which is why have committed ourselves to its protection and preservation. Therefore, we are limiting the collection of your personal data to the minimum that is necessary and legally required in order to conduct a payment service. It goes without saying that whenever we process your personal data, we comply with the according legal requirements. Please read the following privacy statement with care, in order to get more information about how we process your personal data.
Hereinafter, we would like to give you an overview of how we collect, process and use your personal data (particularly your e-mail address, mobile telephone number and bank account details) that you have provided to us directly when using „Barzahlen“ or have provided to your contract party (online shop or other companies, where you have made your order and have selected „Barzahlen“ as the payment method) which in turn has provided the data to the bank processing this payment and its technical service provider, CPS, each in compliance with the data protection laws and the following terms.

1. Responsible Authority


Responsible authority for the collection, processing and use of your personal data for the purposes of the German Federal Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz):
  • Concerning mobile telephone numbers you may enter in the “barzahlen.de” web portal for the purpose of receiving a numerical code by SMS which allows cash payment at “Barzahlen” retail collection points:

When collecting your mobile telephone numbers in the context of a “Barzahlen” transaction, CPS acts on its own behalf and in this respect is itself the responsible authority for the purposes of the Federal Data Protection Act. Concerning your email address and mobile telephone number, which you must enter when agreeing with your Contracting Partner to the use of “Barzahlen” on a separate “checkout page”, and which in other cases will be passed on to CPS by the Contracting Partner so that you can be issued with a Barzahlen payment or cash redemption receipt: CPS.
  • Concerning bank account details which you may enter in the “barzahlen.de” web portal in order to receive a bank transfer to your account should a refund be due when using “Barzahlen”: GRENKE BANK AG, Neuer Markt 2, 76532 Baden-Baden. CPS acts in this respect as the contracted data processing entity on GRENKE BANK AG behalf.
  • Concerning personal data (especially your name, address, email address, mobile telephone number) which your Contracting Partner passes on to CPS, who in turn passes it on to GRENKE BANK AG for the purposes of legally required money laundering controls: GRENKE BANK AG, Neuer Markt 2, 76532 Baden-Baden. CPS acts in this respect as the contracted data processing entity on GRENKE BANK AG behalf.

2. Collection of Personal Data


Personal data is information regarding factual or personal circumstances of a specific or specifiable natural person. This includes but is not limited to your name, mobile telephone number, address and banking details.
The disclosure of your personal data and consent to personal data being passed on to GRENKE BANK AG and CPS by your Contracting Partner takes place on a voluntary basis.

3. Data Usage


Your data is collected, stored and processed only to the extent necessary for the implementation of the “Barzahlen” payment method or required for compliance with regulatory requirements, particularly those concerning money laundering.
  • Your email address is required with every usage of the “Barzahlen” payment method in order that CPS is able to send you a “Barzahlen” payment or cash redemption receipt. Furthermore, CPS and/or GRENKE BANK AG will statistically record the frequency and manner in which “Barzahlen” is used with your email address in the context of evaluating overall usage of “Barzahlen” for market research purposes and in order to provide you with personalized product information (in case you previously have requested so). These statistical results are only used by CPS and/or GRENKE BANK AG, and never by third parties.
  • Your mobile telephone number is required if you wish to receive a payment code via SMS rather than a printed payment or cash redemption receipt for presentation to a cashier at one of Barzahlen’s partners. Furthermore, CPS and/or GRENKE BANK AG will statistically record the frequency and manner in which “Barzahlen” is used with your mobile telephone number in order to evaluate overall usage of “Barzahlen” for market research purposes and in order to customize product information and special offers (in case you previously have requested so). These statistical results will only be used by CPS and/or GRENKE BANK AG, and not by third parties.
  • In case you have chosen to receive customized product information from CPS by ticking the according check box on the “check-out-page”, CPS will save your mobile telephone number and/or your e-mail address that you have entered in the “check-out-page” and will use them in order to send you customized information and special offers for CPS products as well as third party products, with which CPS maintains a business relationship, via text message and/or e-mail in the future. For this purpose CPS will assess and analyze data that it has been provided with by the online shop or any other company, where you have made your order and have selected „Barzahlen“ as the payment method. This data contains information, i.a. regarding i) your „Barzahlen“ transaction, ii) the online shop, and iii) the retail partner store and time at with you have made your „Barzahlen“ payment. For the avoidance of doubts, we declare that CPS will not forward your mobile telephone number and/or e-mail address to third parties, with the exception of complying with regulatory requirements, particularly those concerning money laundering.
  • Your mobile number and e-mail address may also be passed on to GRENKE BANK AG by CPS for compliance with money laundering legislation, in which case GRENKE BANK AG will become the responsible authority.
  • After receiving the „Barzahlen“ payment or payout slip, you have the right to demand the correction, blocking or deletion of your mobile telephone number and/or e-mail adress, through CPS, as laid out in paragraphs 4 and/or 5.

Your bank account details are required if you have selected the option of bank transfer should the amount you have paid using “Barzahlen” be refunded to you. If this occurs, your bank account details will be notified to GRENKE BANK AG via CPS so that GRENKE BANK AG can complete the transfer.

Your personal data stored by your Contracting Partner (especially name, address, email address and mobile telephone number) will be passed on to GRENKE BANK AG by the Contracting Partner via CPS should GRENKE BANK AG request accordingly. GRENKE BANK AG is entitled to make this request to the extent necessary to fulfil their regulatory obligations, particularly those regarding money laundering.

CPS works together with the email service-providers The Rocket ScienceGroup LLC (“The Rocket Science Group“) und Mailjet GmbH (“Mailjet“) in dispatching “Barzahlen” payment and cash redemption receipts as well as product information. Mailjet exclusively uses European data center whereas The Rocket Science Group operates servers in the USA. The Rocket Science Group is contractually obliged vis-à-vis CPS to comply with the protection level of the European Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC and offers suitable guarantees towards data protection and personal rights. We want to inform you that we create statistics about usage behavior of our email messages. This is done by the help of little graphics that are embedded into the messages (so-called pixels). If you do not wish analytics of usage behavior, you can disable graphics in your email program by default. Please find more information in the instructions for Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird. However, in this case the messages are not fully displayed and potentially you cannot use all features.

Your personal data will only be passed on or otherwise communicated to third parties to the extent that this is necessary for the purpose of using the “Barzahlen” payment method or if you have given specific permission for this beforehand.

In case that you gave your email address and/or phone number during the order process, your email address and/or phone number would be stored for two years at CPS after purchase and receive of the product. We need to store this information for the case that the product may be returned to the online shop and the purchase value is paid out via Barzahlen. In that case we need to reference to you.

4. Right to information, right of objection and right of revocation


You have a right to free-of-charge information about the collection, processing or use of your personal information. Inquiries can be directed to the contact details provided in the imprint.

Should you wish to object to the recording or usage of your personal data in accordance with this privacy statement, you may do this at any time and in perpetuity. To do this, please inform CPS accordingly in writing using the contact details above via email, fax or letter (see above under “Legal Notice”), which will then be forwarded to the applicable responsible authority. It should be noted that the applicable responsible authorities and companies acting on their behalf may continue to record, process and use your data to the extent allowed by law, also in the event of revocation.
Furthermore, you can revoke your consent to receiving customized product information via text message or e-mail at any time. Furthermore, you will find an unsubscribe link in every product information email.

5. Deletion of Personal Data


Deletion of your personal data occurs if you submitted a request for deletion (providing there are no legal requirements conflicting therewith), if storage of the data is no longer required for the purpose intended at the time it was stored, or if storing it is not permissible for other legal reasons.

6. Use of Google Analytics


  • (1) This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, that is text files stored on your computer which allow usage of the website to be analysed. Information created by the cookie regarding your use of the website is usually transmitted to one of Google’s servers in the USA where it is then stored. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to one of Google’s servers in the United States of America and truncated there.
